1. 傳染性疾病對各國政府的公共衛生體系都造成一個沉重的經濟負擔,在已開發與開發中國家中因為對公共衛生的認知與公衛體系的建構較為完善,傳染性疾病造成的問題較為輕微。但是在未開發國家中,因為面對社會文化的差異與政府經費有限的現實,在政府天天面對的許多棘手議題中,處理傳染性疾病這單一問題就顯得困難許多。因此,傳染性疾病是最有可能被犧牲而忽略掉的,特別是地方性傳染病僅侷限在某一特定區域,在開發中國家很可能被忽視,其中一個被輕忽的疾病是登革熱,它是一種藉由攜帶登革病毒的蚊子進行傳播的疾病,儘管登革熱已在許多地方傳播開來,在熱帶與亞熱帶地區仍較為盛行.

2. 研究焦點在瞭解病毒感染幹細胞暨前驅細胞造成疾病的致病機制與先天性宿主免疫的反應機制

3. 分析登革病毒造成嚴重疾病後果的病毒與宿主易感因子之間的交互作用

4. 以登革病毒作為研究幹細胞暨前驅細胞分化和分裂的模式
